This course is designed to address the importance of ethical leadership principles for all ranks

and personnel within fire and public safety agencies. It will explore why each individual must

take responsibility for themselves and “Lead Yourself First” before you embark on a journey to

lead others.

This program is designed for all personnel and ranks, from bottom to top, within agencies and

organizations who are in supervisory or leadership positions or who aspire to become leaders in

the future. This course teaches core leadership values and ethical principles by emphasizing

taking personal responsibility to “Lead Yourself First.” This program will explore and discuss the

individual’s role in creating a positive and dynamic leadership environment and the importance

of maintaining a professional culture which embodies trust and integrity. Through direct

presentation, candid discussions, relevant case study and informative group exercise’s, this

course goes to the heart of effective and ethical leadership.

This course will be taught by Undersheriff (Ret.) Travis Chaney, who is a direct and to the point

instructor with nearly 40 years in the, law & fire, public safety arena. He has a wealth of

experience in ethical decision making and building a leadership culture within his agency.

Undersheriff Chaney with his direct approach keeps his classes lively, open and engaged. You

are sure to take away many practical tools and a new perspective on the vital importance of

ethical leadership and the role you play in developing leadership courage.
